Local Area Events:

February 1-April 15 – FreeTax Help. This volunteer program is sponsored by AARP, the IRS and the Idaho State Tax Commission. It is designed specifically to help most elderly, low-income, non-English speaking and disabled taxpayers with the preparation of their tax returns. By appointment only. 208-773-9582.

March 14-16 – Home & Garden Show sponsored by the North Idaho Building Contractors Association at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds. 208-765-5518.

March 17 – Panhandle State Bank is now accepting nominations to recognize a Community Star in the Post Falls Area.  Visit the Post Falls Branch to fill out an entry form and submit a brief paragraph explaining why you think your nomination deserves recognition.  A $1,000 donation to any charity or organization on behalf of the Community Star will be awarded.  A community celebration and prizes will be given in recognition of you and your “Star.”  The deadline for submissions is March 17, 2008 and a recipient will be chosen by March 24, 2008.

March 17-21 – 38th Annual NIC Popcorn Forum “Earth in Crisis: A Search for Solutions.”  A week-long symposium featuring national experts speaking on the AIDS epidemic, domestic and international terrorism, global warming, ethnic and tribal genicode, and the threat of food contamination.  Free to the public.  208-769-7764.
